Palmer House looks to the mission of St Joseph, the worker, earthly Father of Jesus. St Joseph had a heart for community. He was a humble man who put others needs before his own. We can see from his actions that Joseph was a compassionate man and was obedient to the will of God.
Palmer House is named after Henry Palmer, the first elected Mayor of the Municipality in 1861. He also took a prominent part in moves to establish a public school and a public hospital, and was a pioneer sugar grower.
